Backlight sheets are the perfect solution for backlighting surfaces. Whether for lighting fixtures, furniture, artificial skies, or many other applications, backlight sheets offer an ideal, efficient solution for illuminated surfaces, even in very tight spaces with limited installation depth.
We tested various diffuser discs:
- WH72GT (31% transmission): min. distance from the LEDs: 10 mm | Luminance: 1,400 cd/m²
- WH14GT (47% transmission): min. distance from the LEDs: 12 mm | Luminance: 1,800 cd/m²
- OM200SC (72% transmission): min. distance from the LEDs: 15 mm | Luminance: 1,800 cd/m²
By way of comparison: A modern monitor achieves a luminance of approximately 300 cd/m². Incidentally, transmission (light transmittance) is of lesser importance in typical setups, since a large portion of the light is reflected back from the white backlight sheet to the diffuser panel. Therefore, there is hardly any advantage to using, for example, 72% transmission instead of 47% transmission.

Notes on accessories:
To operate 5m (1 roll) of LED strips, a 24V power supply with min. 55 Watt is required. 5m x 10W/m + 10% safety = 55 Watt.
For brightness control of 5m a driver with min. 2,3 Ampere is needed. 55W / 24V = 2,3 Ampere.
