LED Strips CCT
In LED strips with adjustable colour temperature, warm white and cool white LEDs are mixed on one strip and can be controlled individually. This allows flexible adjustment of white light types from warm incandescent light to cool daylight.
These types of LED strips are also known as Tunable White, Variwhite, Dualwhite or BiColor. We mainly use the term CCT LED strips - derived from the English "Corelated Color Temperature".

Control
Special LED controllers, such as our LK55 or the ZigBee variant LK115-U, are needed to adjust the colour temperature. The LK55 offers various radio control options, such as handheld remote controls and wall-mounted models. The LK115-U is designed for control via app (e.g. PHILIPS HUE or ALEXA). Controllers for other smarthome systems such as KNX, DALI, EnOcean, Zigbee etc. are also available. As well as variants for DMX.
Of course, these controllers allow flexible dimming from 0 - 100 in addition to setting the colour temperature.
Notes on our LED strips:
All our LED strips are dimmable! Choose an appropriate driver for this.
All our LED strips are equipped with a 3M adhesive tape on the underside for easy installation.
We can spectrally measure all LED components for you in advance if required.
The product group "LED strips" is also referred to by the synonyms "Flexband", "LED Band", "LED Strip" or "LED Stripe". All terms mean the same product.
What is the difference between the individual LED strips?
Depending on the application, you should select the appropriate LED tape from our range. Important criteria are:
Brightness in lumens per meter - short lm/m
For accent and effect applications, LED strips with a brightness <1,000 lm/m are absolutely sufficient. You can also work with these strips for the main lighting of small rooms (around 15m²). In larger rooms, however, LED strips with >1,000 lm/m should be used if main room lighting is to be realised. For special applications, e.g. where a rather short LED strip is to illuminate an entire room or where very high luminous intensities are required (example: some workplaces), even higher values are recommended.
LED-Type - 2835, 2016, 5630, ...
This specification describes the design of the individual LEDs on the LED strip. For example, an LED type 2835 is 2.8mm wide and 3.5mm long. The only important thing for you is that you should not mix LED strips with different LED types in one room. Slight colour deviations can occur here, even if both strips are described with colour temperature 3,000K, for example. If possible, stay with one LED type.
Colour rendering CRI
The colour rendering index (CRI) indicates how natural the light of the LED strip is, i.e. how true-to-life the colours illuminated by the LED light are reproduced. Today, qualitative applications should always work with a CRI>90. This is of course even more important for main room lighting than for accent applications. Since a high CRI always slightly reduces the efficiency of the LEDs, super-bright LED strips are usually only available with CRI>80.
LED density in LED per metre - in short LED/m
This specification is self-explanatory. A very high LED density is important if you want to use the LED strip behind a milky opal cover, for example, but do not want to see individual LEDs. This is often desired for direct lighting, e.g. when line luminaires are built with the LED strips. Only with a high LED density (120 LED/m or more) can a continuous band of light be created in which individual LEDs are no longer perceptible. If the distance to the milky-opal cover is very short, even an LED strip with considerably more, e.g. 300 LED/m or directly COB LED strips should be used.
What is the advantage of "COB"?
COB LED strips have no visible individual LEDs. The chips are covered with a phospore layer over the entire 5m roll, creating a completely uniformly illuminated strip of light. This is particularly advantageous for all applications in visible areas or where the LEDs are a very short distance from the wall or ceiling.
LED strips according to customer specifications
You need special LED strips or LED panels according to individual specifications? E.g. with a special LED mix or in certain brightness levels, colour rendering qualities, as BiColor, RGB + WW + CW or with a certain number of LEDs?
LED-Studien can have these individual LED strips or LED panels manufactured for you. Just talk to us.
