48V LED strip
48V LED strips enable particularly long LED lines, as the typical voltage and brightness drop is significantly reduced. This version also features integrated constant-current drivers (CCS) that compensate for the voltage drop. Lengths of up to 30 m are possible with a single-sided voltage supply without any drop in brightness. With power supplied from both sides (or from the center), a total length of up to 60 m can be achieved.
Despite the 48V voltage, the strip can still be cut into very short lengths every 5 cm. With 120 LEDs per meter, the LED density is high enough that many aluminum profiles (with a minimum depth of 10 mm) can be used to create a perfectly uniform light line without any bright spots.
With a CRI of over 90, the LED strip also delivers excellent color quality, even for the most discerning tastes.
48V LED strips are the perfect solution for any installation where running cables in parallel is difficult or impossible. Typical examples include:
- Long LED strips in hallways, stairwells, and similar areas
- Facade lighting (Note the IP rating)
- Indirect lighting with very delicate light coves / stucco moldings
Available variants
- Sold by the meter, IP20, connection cable optional
Notes on accessories:
To power 30 m of LED strip, a 48 V power supply with a minimum output of 165 watts is required. 30 m × 5 W/m + 10% margin = 165 watts.
To control the brightness of the 30m, you need a controller with a minimum current rating of 3.5 amps. 165W / 48V = 3.5 amps.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is it safe to install 48V LED strips?
Yes. 48V, just like 24V or 12V, falls under the category of low voltage and can be installed by anyone.
Are there any disadvantages to 48V LED strips compared to the more common 24V LED strips?
Currently, the selection of LED strips and LED controllers in the 48V range is still somewhat limited. This means you’ll need to do a bit more research to find suitable options for control. Please feel free to contact us about this.
Are 48V LED strips particularly efficient and do they generate less heat than, for example, 24V LED strips?
No. Their efficiency and heat generation are comparable. We therefore recommend aluminum profiles for heat dissipation from the LEDs, even for 48V LED strips.
